The Weekend

What a weekend...

Bridget and Joe were able to watch Emily overnight on Saturday, and Maureen and I snuck off to the city for a fun night on the town.

We had lunch at Smith and Wollensky (ask us about the craZy guy siting near us who spent about $200 on his lunch and took about 6 months off his life), then we went and saw "Jersey Boys", which we both thought was excellent. We then had dinner and drinks at Nine Steakhouse at Canal and Randolph, and topped it off with more drinks at Ghostbar. A short cab ride back to our hotel (Hotel Sax) landed us right back at the hotel bar.

Our hotel also had a game room on the 6th floor, which had several tvs and game systems ready to go, so we had room service bring us a few beers and we played Rock Star / Guitar Hero for a little while also. Maureen and I are never going to be rock stars.

It was fun to get away for a night, but we both missed Emily a ton, so much so that Maureen couldn't sleep in, and we headed out in the morning to go get her.

Thanks to Joe and Bridget for watching Emily!!!

Anyways, no other news cooking in Franchiville.

Franchi Family Update - April 08'

What's new in Franchiville?

Emily is just over 7 weeks old. Her last doctor appointment had her listed at 9 lbs, 14.75 OZ and 23 1/2 inches long. To put that type of growth into prospective, if I grew by that much, I would be 6 foot 7 inches, and weigh 244 pounds. Emily is starting to smile, which is a lot of fun.

She enjoys her swing a lot, and often it will put her right to sleep. Another fun thing about little Emily is her behavior in the car. She is so so good when we're driving. She seems to enjoy it. BUT...if you stop at a red light for more than 30 seconds, she'll start to cry. About 10 seconds after you start driving again she goes right back to happy. Oh...she hates baths.

She is sleeping about 6 hours at night, sometimes a little bit more, and she is drinking about 4.5 ozs per feeding. The best news is she is happy and healthy, so no complaints from Mom and Dad.

Maureen goes back to work on the 21st. She is excited to get back on the job, but clearly as a new Mom she's struggling with the idea of leaving her daughter. Thankfully, Ginger and Bridget are going to be helping us out by watching Emily the two days Maureen is in the office. I am even able to work one day a week from home through the middle of June, so I'll get some quality baby time as well. Maureen is already getting meetings scheduled and going through 'the books' at night, so clearly work is on the horizon.

We're having a shed installed in the backyard this week, weather permitting. We have hired a company to come and cut down some trees to make room. We're getting the backyard all ready for the next few months, so get ready to swing by for an afternoon summer cocktail.

I was in the attic laying some speaker wire and I fell through the ceiling into the family room (I caught myself and did not actually fall through to the ground). That was a lot of fun. Right now we have a 6 foot by 3 foot hole in our family room ceiling. It's a good time to be me.

Work is good on my end. Still living the dream at Kraft, although Maureen not being here is still taking some getting used to. She has been able to swing by a few times with Emily, which has been a lot of fun. My boss will be moving to a new job in the coming weeks, so I'll be challenged with picking up the slack until he is replaced, so the hours are going to be long for a while.

I have been studying for the GMAT a lot recently. Its funny how this test is incredibly hard, yet is is truly filled with a ton of high school math and English. Granted, they twist it to make it complicated, but the theory is still the same, unfortunately over the past 12 years I have all but forgotten how to divide cubed routes and how to apply those numbers to complex Geometry, but I am relearning it.

Softball starts May 1st. We're aiming for a Championship. I'll keep you posted.

I am in a weight loss challenge at work, so look for Uncle Marty to slim down over the next few weeks.

Here are some fun pictures for you!!!
